He has worked with everything from SHA's regional champions to our invaluable, trustworthy school mounts, and has consistently helped to ensure that all of the horses entrusted to him remain sound and ready to perform both at home and in the show ring. Chris is a very gifted farrier who has been professionally trained and has learned a lot through experience. He knows that hot shoeing is the best way to shoe a horse, as the shoe must be shaped to the hoof, not the hoof to the shoe. We highly recommend Chris as his skills are solid and far-reaching.

Chris Thiem was, is and will always be my farrier. I am more than satisfied with the care he gives both my retired roping horse and my miniature. Chris is an AMAZING Farrier! He is truly "all about the horse". His patience and support of the horse and his knowledge of trimming and fitting shoes are nothing short of first class. He explains everything he does in a professional and thorough fashion, answers all questions and thoughtfully analyzes the various choices. Most importantly, he never rushes, but takes his time to address all of the issues, pros and cons of each, in order to determine the best choice to optimize the desired outcome for the horse.
My three horses are "significant" senior citizens, ages 39, 33 and 26, each a different breed, each with very specific needs and concerns. My horses were to a point that my farrier was out of ideas as how to keep them sound and not in pain. Chris happily stepped up to the plate and worked tirelessly. He made a thorough change to the way they had been trimmed; he totally changed their shoes inclusive of using glue-on's for one of my horses who has such arthritic knees he just couldn't stand the pounding of nails anymore; he continually checked and fine-tuned his work; and, he always made sure each horse was as comfortable as possible throughout the entire process. After the initial shoeing, each horse showed a HUGE improvement. With continual tweaking and future shoeing adjustments, we both expect all three horses will be walking sound and pain free, something I thought would never be possible. I highly recommend Chris.
